Government Setting Terms October 4–9, 2026

This week, government action set terms in four places:

• Australia: Canberra is finalising a rule to keep up to a fifth of LNG output at home
• United States: Washington is pressing Seoul to fund Alaska LNG, and Korea says nothing is decided
• Europe: the EU's Russian LNG ban starts January 1, even as Russian imports hit a record
• Iran: Tehran is setting the conditions for passage through Hormuz
