Venture Global and China Gas Sign Two 20-year Long-Term LNG Agreements

Feb 24, 2023

Venture Global and China Gas Holdings Limited have signed two long-term LNG Sales and Purchase Agreements (SPA) for a period of 20 years. China Gas Holdings Limited will purchase 1 million tonnes per annum of LNG on a free on-board basis from Plaquemines LNG and another 1 MTPA from the CP2 LNG export facility.

Plaquemines LNG is a planned LNG export facility in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, approximately 20 miles south of New Orleans. When fully developed, Plaquemines LNG will have an export capacity of up to 20 million metric tonnes per year. The 630-acre site is located on the Mississippi River, with approximately 1.3 miles of river frontage.  In May of 2022 Venture Global LNG announced a final investment decision for the initial phase of Plaquemines LNG project and the associated Gator Express pipeline.

CP2 LNG is a planned export facility with a nameplate liquefaction capacity of 20 million metric tonnes per annum and a peak capacity of approximately 24 MTPA. The CP2 LNG terminal will be located on an approximately 546-acre site in Cameron Parish, Louisiana.  Current plans call for a Q2 2026 start of phase 1 CP2 LNG operations.

Venture Global’s first facility, Calcasieu Pass, started producing LNG in January 2022. In total Venture Global is constructing or developing an additional 60 MTPA of production capacity in Louisiana.
