Middle East Gas Production To Surpass Russia in 2019

LNG Global • Aug 16, 2019

The Middle East is expected to surpass Russia in gas production by the end of the year according to Rystad Energy. The Middle Eastern region will produce over 730 billion cubic meters of gas by 2020, increasing to about 920 billion cubic meters by 2030.

International markets may not feel the full effect as demand in the region is also expected to see rapid growth according to Rystad Energy. Iran and Saudi Arabia alone could absorb more than 50% of the region’s production by 2030.

Qatar will remain the highest gas exporter in the region and will see a jump in LNG exports as the North Field project ramps up. Rystad Energy noted exports from Israel are also expected to grow rapidly which could primarily benefit the European market.
