U.S. LNG exports decrease week over week according to a U.S Energy Information Administration (EIA) report released yesterday. Four LNG vessels (two from Sabine Pass and one each from Cove Point and Cameron) with a combined LNG-carrying capacity of 15 Bcf departed the United States between July 9 and July 15, 2020. The EIA noted this is the lowest reported weekly U.S. LNG export volume since December 8, 2016 when Sabine Pass LNG was the only U.S. LNG export facility and had two trains in operation.

Earlier this week the U.S. Department of Energy released their latest report for U.S. vessel-borne LNG exports. The report included data through May 2020. The report noted the U.S. exported 182.2 Bcf of natural gas in the form of LNG for May 2020. This was a 13.4% decrease compared to April 2020 but 25.9% more than May 2019.

57 cargos were shipped from the U.S. in May 2020. Sabine Pass (25), Cameron (10), Corpus Christi (8), Freeport (8), Cove Point, (6), Elba Island (0). 62 cargos were shipped the prior month of April 2020 and 46 cargos in May 2019.

The top five countries of destination, representing 49.1% of total U.S. LNG exports in May 2020 were:
1. Spain (29.3 Bcf)
2. South Korea (20.9 Bcf)
3. China (14.5 Bcf)
