LNG Canada Video : Cryogenic Heat Exchanger and Precoolers Arrive

Jun 15, 2021

Crews spent the week of June 7th offloading a 345-tonne main cryogenic heat exchanger (MCHE) and two precooler units, which weigh 308 tonnes and 284 tonnes respectively, from a cargo ship docked at the LNG Canada project’s new material offloading facility in Kitimat Harbour.

The largest of the three new pieces of equipment, the MCHE is approximately 50 metres in length. It is the first of two MCHE units built by Linde plc for the LNG Canada project; the second MCHE is expected to arrive later this year, along with two more precoolers.

The LNG Canada joint venture (Shell, PETRONAS, PetroChina, Mitsubishi and KOGAS) is building a liquefied natural gas export facility in Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada.
