KEY INDUSTRY LEADERS TO SET THE TONE FOR DELIBERATIONS ON IMO 2020 SULPHUR CAP REGULATIONS AT FUJCON 2019 
25 – 27 March 2019, Fujairah, UAE 
 
Three eminent thought leaders will provide State-of-the-Industry Addresses on the commercial impact of impending IMO 2020 regulations on sulphur cap, at the 11th International Fujairah Bunkering & Fuel Oil Forum to be held from 25-27 March 2019:- 

  1. Dr Fereidun Fesharaki, Chairman, FGE is to deliver the State-of-the-Oil & Gas Markets Address  
  2. Mr Nizar Al Adsani, CEO, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation will deliver the State-of-theRefining Industry Address and 
  3. Mr Christopher Bake, Executive Committee & Head of Origination, Vitol Group, UK will deliver the State-of-the-Fuel Oil Markets Address  
Through presentations and roundtable discussions, key decision makers, thought leaders and marine experts will be sharing their views, analysis and insights on the global bunker and fuel oil market developments, and challenges to be tackled by the fuel oil and maritime industry in addressing IMO’s regulations to cap global sulphur emissions from 3.5% to 0.5% by 1 January 2020. 
 
Under the theme “New Horizons: The Future Fuel Landscape & IMO 2020 Solutions & Alternatives” speakers will be deliberating on the impact and implementation of 2020 sulphur regulations, availability and properties of compliant fuel; options for compliance, logistical & handling challenges of respective options; legal ramifications/enforcement issues and commercial considerations covering the price of compliant fuels and the return on investments required for compliance.

FUJCON is held under the auspices of the Government of Fujairah & the Port of Fujairah, with the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah & Member of the UAE Supreme Council. 
 
Held as part of the Fujairah Bunkering Week (FBW) from 23 – 27 March 2019 in Fujairah, UAE, the week is expected to attract 600-800 delegates to Fujairah, with about 450 Forum participants from leading oil and bunker producers, traders, oil majors, national oil companies, shipowners, operators, managers, brokers, charterers, terminal operators, refiners and classification societies, from 35 countries. Attendees will be renewing business contacts and forging alliances over 5 industry events, 15 social functions, laboratory and site visits and enjoying about 30 hours of networking time. 
 
The Government of Fujairah spokesperson remarked “The hosting of FUJCON affirms the commitment of the Government of Fujairah with the Port of Fujairah as hosts, to provide a fitting stage for a world class event on the international bunkering community’s annual calendar. During the course of the Forum, expert speakers will provide much attention, deliberation and discussions of the industry’s concerns, challenges and successes, allowing an examination of how international regulations can be executed for the benefit of the industry & Fujairah.” 
 
Four optional pre-conference workshops from 23-25 March, giving participants a wide choice of fuel oil disciplines, will offer coverage and in-depth analysis on International Oil Trading, Managing 2020 Bunker Fuels, Refining Economics and Bunker Fuel Blending, examining the impact of new maritime regulations, while providing extensive learning opportunities with numerous case studies, guest presentations and specially arranged laboratory visits as part of the curriculum. 
 
A special highlight will be an off-shore site visit on the afternoon of Wednesday, 27 March, hosted by the Port of Fujairah, to visit and view state-of-the-art facilities at the Port, its offshore Anchorage including the Fujairah Oil Tank Terminals and its VLCC berth.
