Fluor Joint Venture Secures EPC Contract for LNG Canada Project

info • Apr 27, 2018

Fluor Corporation announced today that its joint venture partnership with JGC was selected as the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for LNG Canada’s proposed LNG export facility in Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada. Fluor noted the award is conditional on a positive final investment decision later this year at which point Fluor will book its share of the contract value.

In February of this year LNG Canada identified the finalists in their EPC selection process as the partnership of TechnipFMC plc and KBR, Inc. and the partnership of JGC Corporation and Fluor Corporation.

LNG Canada is a joint venture comprised of Shell Canada Energy (50%), affiliates of PetroChina (20%), Korea Gas Corporation (15%) and Mitsubishi Corporation (15%). The joint venture is proposing to build an LNG export facility in Kitimat that would initially consist of two LNG trains each with the capacity to produce at least 6.5 mtpa of LNG annually. The project would include an option to expand in the future to four trains.

"We thank LNG Canada for the opportunity to participate in developing the first world-class LNG facility in British Columbia,” said Jim Brittain, group president of Fluor’s Energy & Chemicals business. “Our team has developed an innovative design and execution strategy that improves the project’s competitiveness and predictability and positions it for a final investment decision.”
