LNG Global • Dec 06, 2019

McDermott International, Inc. with its partners, Chiyoda International Corporation and Zachry Group announced today Train 2 of the Freeport LNG project on Quintana Island in Freeport, Texas, has started producing LNG.

"First liquid for Train 2 is another great accomplishment for the Freeport LNG project," said Mark Coscio, McDermott's Senior Vice President for North, Central and South America. "As we progress to first cargo for Train 2, we applaud the diligence and commitment of the project team for driving Freeport LNG toward a safe completion."

Train 1 at Freeport began producing LNG in August of this year. Freeport LNG Trains 2 and 3 remain on schedule with Train 3 initial production of LNG scheduled for Q1 of 2020.

In May of this year Freeport LNG announced that it has received approval from the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to site, construct and operate a fourth LNG train. Freeport LNG’s Train 4 is expected to add over 5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG production to its existing project, increasing the total export capability of the 4-train facility to over 20 mtpa.
