info • Jul 31, 2017

In July 2017, forsa, an independent public opinion research institute, carried out a representative survey of German public opinion on the future natural gas supply in Germany on behalf of Wintershall. Wintershall Holding GmbH, based in Kassel, Germany, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of BASF.

Half the Germans surveyed support a further diversification of the natural gas provision but only 6 percent want more LNG imports from the United States. A majority of German citizens reject any planned expansion of U.S. economic sanctions against Russia. Results below of the survey conducted by the forsa opinion research institute. More than 1000 German citizens ages 18 and overwere interviewed on behalf of Wintershall from 7 to 11 July 2017 by systematic random selection. All figures in the graphs are percentages.
